Microsoft officially unveils Surface Pro 4

NEW YORK (Web Desk) – Microsoft has just introduced its latest tablet, the Surface Pro 4, which is the successor to the Surface Pro 3 tablet it announced in May 2014.

The tablet will be available on Oct. 26 starting at $899, and preorders start on Oct. 7.

The company says it’s thinner and lighter than the previous version. Microsoft also claims that it’s 30% faster than the previous Surface Pro tablet and 50% faster than the MacBook Air, Business Insider reported.

The screen is slightly larger at 12.3 inches, which means there are 257 pixels per inch. Microsoft’s Panos Panay is really talking up the tablet’s display, saying it will “knock you out.”

There’s a new Surface Pen that works with the tablet, too. It has an eraser at the top, so you can turn it around and erase with it like you would with an actual pencil.

Microsoft is showing how easy it is to take cropped screenshots using the pen to draw around the area that you want to save. You can also hold down the pen toward the bottom of the screen to launch Cortana. Microsoft also says the custom chipset it’s created for the tablet makes it so that you can seamlessly switch between ink and digital content when using the pen.

The pen also comes in five colors, including red, blue, gold, black, and silver.

There’s also a new TypeCover for the Surface Pro 4. Microsoft says it’s even lighter and thinner than the last keyboard, and it works with the Surface Pro 3 too. The trackpad is 40% larger and the company says it’s redesigned the keys.
