LAHORE (Staff Report) – In a major reshuffle , Bahauddin Zakariya University administration has rotated eleven chairmen and directors of different departments by following its syndicate decision here on Thursday.
The decision has been made in the light of the syndicate, the top governing body of the varsity, recent meeting in which it was agreed that all those chairmen and directors, who had completed three years
tenure in their departments concerned, would be changed to give other faculty members a chance to serve in the capacity.
According to BZU Act only professors and associate professors could be appointed as Chairmen or Head of the departments. However, if a department does not have any professor or associate in it, the senior most faculty member is elevated as teacher in charge.
According to different notifications, Dr Abdul Qudoos Sohaib has been made chairman of Islamic Studies Department of BZU.
Likewise, Dr Ghulam Shabbir Baloch has taken over as Chairman Communication Studies department. He has replaced Dr Ashraf Khan. In Pakistan Studies Department, Dr Javaid Akhtar Salyana, has replaced Dr Muhammad Farooq as Chairman.
Dr Abdul Rahim has taken over as Chairman Department of Arabic while Dr Tariq Bhatti has replaced Dr Ejaz Chaudhary in Physics Department.
Dr Shahnaz Tariq assumed office as Chairmen International Relations Department by replacing Dr Umer Farooq Zain. In Agronomy department Dr Nazim Ahmad Labar has been made chairman while Dr Jam Niaz assumed office as chairman in Soil Sciences Department.
Dr Zahir Faridi has been elevated as Director School of Economics replacing his predecessor Dr Imran Sharif who is also president of Academic Staff Association at BZU.
In pharmacy department, Dr Khalid Ranjha has taken over as chairman of the department while Dr Azra Asghar has replaced Dr Ishaq Fani as Director Distance learning. Besides this, Dr Ayaz Rana has been given additional charge of Director Institute of Social Sciences Department.
It is worth mentioning here that Dr Naveed Chaudhry will replace Dr Siaqa Imtiaz after three months time as she completed her three years tenure in the office.
Dr Ashraf Khan (Com Studies), Dr Saeedur Rehman (Islamic Studies) and Dr Ejaz Chaudhary (Physics) have been serving their capacities for over seven years.
