AUCKLAND (Staff Report) – While Pakistani cricket team is due to face New Zealand in first T20 game at Auckland stadium on January 15, skipper Shahid Afridi has linked some big hopes with pacer Muhammad Amir saying “I hope Amir will prove himself a great addition in team.”
Muhammad Amir was included in Pakistan’s T20 and ODI squads for New Zealand tour after five years after he was cleared by ICC in September last year. He was found guilty of match fixing in 2010.
Addressing a press conference in Auckland, Afridi said that team has a potential and will perform well against New Zealand. Our morale is high and addition of Muhammad Amir has further strengthened our squad, he said.
He went on to say that Muhammad Amir is world’s best bowler and apart from him Pakistan has also got many other extraordinary bowlers in team.
On the occasion, head coach Waqar Younis said that Muhammad AMir has returned to the field after five years however he gain a pace in one or two games. Amir is a changed man and everybody expects him to perform well in the series, he said.
To a question he said that none of the two teams among Pakistan and New Zealand was favourite for T20 or ODI series.
Earlier this day heavy rain in Auckland disturbed the practice session of Pakistan, as a result players were confined to their rooms in hotels.
