PEMRA warns Dunya News, Channel-24 for airing objectionable content

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Tuesday issued show cause notices to Dunya News and Channel 24 for airing certain objectionable content in its live broadcast on May 15.

The television channels were called out for telecasting the news conference of the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen’s Allam Raja Abbasi Jafri and the Sunni Ittehad Council’s Sahibzada Hamid Raza Khan.

The religious leaders were alleged to have used inappropriate language against judiciary and army, particularly the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

According a PEMRA press release, the authority has issued repeated warnings to all TV channels, calling for utmost responsibility while reporting on matters related to the judiciary and the army.
