TEL AVIV (Web Desk) – Israel has suspended entry permits for 83,000 Palestinians after gunmen killed four people in an attack on Tel Aviv at the open-air complex on Thursday.
According to an official, two Palestinians from the West Bank opened fire on shoppers and diners in the Sarona zone.
Both attackers, who are cousins from the Palestinian village of Yatta, were eventually caught.
Hamas called the incident a ‘heroic attack’ but did not claim the responsibility.
The West Bank-based Palestinian Presidency stressed its rejection of all operations targeting civilians “regardless of their identity and irrespective of the justifications”, without directly addressing the Tel Aviv attack.
Two women and two men were killed and sixteen others were injured in the shootings, police said.
CCTV footage showed customers diving for cover and scrambling for the exit. One of the attackers was wounded and has undergone surgery at an Israeli hospital.
Israel later announced a permit ban that will impact Palestinians in the West Bank and in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.
The suspension did not apply to Palestinians with work authorizations.
