KABUL – Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Sunday stated that during his recent New Delhi visit he and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had discussed the creation of joint air trade route between India and Afghanistan.
Talking to a World Bank delegation headed by Vice President Kyle Peters, Ghani said the Indian Prime Minister had also given a positive response to his proposal which could help the two countries to enhance import and export of goods.
He appraised the WB officials that his government was also concentrating on the creation of more ports and economic zones in the airports to obtain maximum benefits out of Afghanistan’s regional location and its significance in economic connectivity.
On the occasion, Ghani also expressed his intention to launch a decisive campaign against corruption and poverty, and look for opportunities to create new jobs with the trust and confidence of the friend countries.
The visit of WB delegation was aimed to review the developmental proposals of Afghan government to improve situation the war-torn country.
Earlier this month, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani flew to New Delhi on two-day official tour to hold crucial meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top officials. During the visit, India pledged fresh $ 1 billion aid for Afghanistan.
