Indian army rejects Raj Thackery’s demand of penance submission in army fund for casting Pakistani artists

MUMBAI – India’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) demand of submitting Rs. 5 crore in army fund for casting Pakistani artists has apparently boomeranged as notable Indian army officials termed it a wrong move of dragging army into politics.

MNS Cheif Raj Thackery had earlier demanded that producers of films employing Pakistani artistes should pay Rs 5 crore to an army welfare fund as “penance”.

However, the move backfired as Indian army felt uncomfortable with the move, endorsed by former top notch military officials.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Former northern army commander Lieutenant General BS Jaswal denounced MNS demand.

“The army doesn’t go around begging for funds. If a film producer wants to donate, he can do it like any other Indian citizen. But it’s unacceptable in such a manner” he said.

“Let’s keep the army out of politics. We have stayed that way and would like to stay that way” Jaswal added.
