Asad Amanat Ali remembered on 10th death anniversary

LAHORE – The tenth death anniversary of renowned classical and Ghazal Singer Ustad Asad Amanat Ali Khan is being observed today (Saturday).

The popular classical, semi-classical and ghazal singer died young of a heart attack on April 8, 2007 in London and was laid to rest in Mominpura Graveyard in Lahore.

He started his musical career performing “Thumri” and then went on to record some of his most popular numbers and ghazals. One of the songs that featured in almost every concert he performed, arguably his biggest hit, was “Insha Ji Utho”, originally sung by his father Amanat Ali Khan.”

Over a span of 32 years (1975 to 2007), the singing maestro sang a multitude of songs for television, film and radio.

Government of Pakistan awarded him the Pride of Performance on March 23, 2007, some days before he breathed his last.
