JEDDAH – A Saudi soldier was killed and two others injured when an explosive device exploded during a patrol in Qatif province of Saudi Arabia, the interior ministry said.
According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the ministry said that the blast occurred late Sunday evening in the Masoura district neighborhood in Qatif Governorate.
The dead soldier has been identified as Major Tariq Al-Allaqi.

On June 1, two people were killed when a car exploded in the same district.
Qatif, home to a large Shi’ite Muslim population, has been a flash point between the Sunni Muslim government and Shi’ites complaining of discrimination.
