Weather forecast for next 48 hours: More downpours, thundershowers across country

ISLAMABAD – The widespread monsoon showers continued across the country from Wednesday, with Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicting more downpours in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Synoptic Situation:

Moderate monsoon currents are penetrating in the country and likely to weaken during the next 24 hours. A shallow westerly wave is also still affecting upper parts of the country and likely to move eastwards during the next 24 hours.

Next 12 hrs:

More rain-thundershowers with strong gusty winds are expected at scattered places in Kashmir, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Karachi divisions, while at isolated places in Malakand, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu, D.I.Khan, D.G.Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Zhob, Kalat divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan.

There is a risk of landslides in hilly areas of upper KP (Malakand, Hazara divisions), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Next 24 hours:

Mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, more rain-thundershowers with gusty winds are expected at isolated places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Hazara divisions, lower Sindh (Hyderabad, Karachi, MirpurKhas, Sh. Benazirabad divisions), Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Next 48 hours:

Mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, rain-thundershowers with gusty winds are expected at isolated places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Hazara, Mirpurkhas divisions and Kashmir.

Rain/dust-thundershowers with gusty winds occurred at a number of places in upper Punjab, Islamabad, KP, Karachi, Mirpurkhas divisions and Kashmir, while at scattered places in Multan, Zhob, Quetta divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan.
