LAHORE (Court reporter) – An interesting situation occurred on Monday in session court when two men appearing before the judge claimed to be husbands of one woman.
The woman in question is named Rabia and apparently she was married to two men- Hashim and Salman.
According to details, Mohammad Hashim and Salman, both residents of Lahore, appeared in the court of Additional Session Judge Shahida Saeed and claimed to be husbands of Rabia.
Salman pleaded that he was married to Rabia and they were living together. According to him, “Rabia went to visit her parents, and from there Hashim kidnapped her”. Upon this, Hashim informed the court that he has the marriage certificate to prove his marriage with Rabia. Hashim had appeared before the court along with Rabia to get bail in the kidnapping case registered against him, by Salman, at Factory Area Police Station.
Rabia, while recording her statement, said that she is wife of Hashim, and also submitted an affidavit affirming that.
She said that she had also filed an application in family court to restrain Salman from calling her ‘his wife’.
However, after hearing the arguments of both parties, the court extended the bail of Hashim till 15th May. Since truth about the nature of relationship between the three couldn’t be ascertained, the judge also ordered Investigation Officer at Factory Area Police Station to investigate the matter and present his findings at the next hearing.
