ISLAMABAD – A 5.3 magnitude earthquake jolted Islamabad, Rawalpindi and northern parts of Pakistan on Saturday evening.
The quake’s epicentre was Afghanistan-Hindukush region. There is no report of casualty, damage yet.
Besides Lahore, Abbottabad and Murree, tremors were also felt in Mardan, Der Bala, Nowshehra, Lower Dir, North Waziristan and other adjoining areas.
Last year, a 5.4 magnitude earthquake hit Pakistan on October 1 and a year before that in 2015, the ‘biggest ever’ earthquake of 8.1 magnitudes jolted the country on October 26.
The “October earthquake” quickly became part of a discussion on the social media because it is the month when the deadliest earthquake in the country’s history happened on October 8, 2005, leaving over a hundred thousand dead and thousands displaced.
