Netflix cuts all ties with Kevin Spacey

LOS ANGELES – Netflix has announced Kevin Spacey will no longer be a part of House of Cards and it’s cutting all other ties with the American actor following Anthony Rapp’s sexual assault allegations against him.

“Netflix will not be involved with any further production of ‘House of Cards’ that includes Kevin Spacey. We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film Gore, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey,” Netflix said in a statement.

The announcement comes days after Oscar-winning actor apologised to Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp after he alleged Spacey made an unwanted sexual advance toward him the when he was just 14-years old.

Spacey was 26-years old when the altercation allegedly occurred. The House of Cards star did not deny the allegations and apologised to Rapp if they were true. “If I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior,” his statement said. Instead, Spacey blames his lack of memory of the situation due to alcohol use.

Production on the Netflix show’s sixth season was underway before Space was Rapp’s allegations published in BuzzFeed  interview.
