IAEA to assist quake-hit Nepal in testing integrity of buildings

VIENNA, Austria (Web Desk) – International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Yukiya Amano has announced that the Agency will assist Nepal in testing the integrity of buildings following the recent earthquakes.

He reiterated that the Agency has ability to respond quickly to the needs of its member states.

In a statement to the Agency’s Board of Governors on June 8, IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano, he updated the board on Iran, the IAEA’s Fukushima Report and the current status of nuclear power worldwide.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Board, which meets five times a year at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna, Austria, is one of the IAEA’s main policy making bodies.
