DUBAI – Islamabad United registered their first win after beating confident Multan Sultans by five wickets in Dubai on Saturday.
Batting first, Multan Sultans failed to set huge total and merely bowled out at 113-run all out in 19.5 overs. In reply, Islamabad United achieved the target in 17.4 over for the loss of five wickets.

United’s Talat Hussian was declared man of the match. The 22-year-old smashed 48 not out off 34 balls to rescue the Reds from Imran Tahir’s magical spell and clinch a 5-wicket win for his team.

Islamabad United captain Rumman Raees, standing in for the injured Misbahul Haq for the second straight game, won the toss and put Multan Sultans in to bat first — a decision that paid dividends in the third over when United bowler Rumman Raees got Sultans opener Kumar Sangakkara caught out.

Multan, riding high on two successive wins in their Pakistan Super League (PSL) debut, beat defending champions Peshawar Zalmi by seven wickets in the opening match of the PSL and then outclassed Lahore Qalandars by 43 runs in their second match.

Islamabad United were beaten by Peshawar Zalmi in their opening match on Saturday, with their top order crushed by pacer Umaid Asif who was helped along by young spinner Ibtisam Sheikh.
