Pakistan- Parliament member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaaf Malik Taimoor an MPA from Rawalpindi has submitted a resolution to ban the use of “talaaq”/divorce on television in our dramas to Punjab assembly.
The MPA and his supporters believe that constant use of this word over the television can create a negative impact on the viewers. They want to ban the use of this word and urge PEMRA to take a notice of the issue by controlling the content which is aired.
However no other alternative word is suggested by Malik Taimoor and his supporters and the concern is that such social issues won’t get the right attention and depiction on television as with passage of time the divorce rates are increasing in Pakistan. Issues like divorce need to be addressed.
