Ramazan moon sighted in Pakistan; first fast of 2018 on Thursday

LAHORE – The Ramazan moon has been sighted and the first fast will be on May 17, 2018, the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee announced on Wednesday.

The announcement was made by Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Munibur Rehman after chairing a meeting in Karachi.

Zonal committees also held their meetings in their respective provincial headquarters, he added.

The holy month for the Islamic year 1439 Hijri will begin from Thursday.

Muslims in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Oman, Kuwait, Iraq, Iran, Palestine, the United Kingdom, Australia and Japan will also begin the holy month form Thursday.
