Court extends Ayyan Ali s judicial remand

RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – A Customs court on Monday extended the judicial remand of fashion model Ayyan Ali till next Monday, July 13.

Customs officials were supposed to present a charge-sheet against Ayyan Ali in the currency smuggling case at the Customs court in Rawalpindi. However, the court did not fix charges against the accused and sought further records from the investigators.

Judge Aftab Ahmad Khan also ordered the Customs officials to provide relevant documents to Ayyan’s counsel.

According to sources, Customs officials have charged the model with currency smuggling.

Ayyan’s medical report, which has been drafted by District Headquarters Hospital senior gynecologist, was also submitted in the court. The report states the suspect is in good health, sources have informed.

On June 29, Ayyan’s bail plea was rejected by the Lahore High Court. Earlier that day, the Rawalpindi customs court had extended her judicial remand till July 6 and directed the lawyers of Ayyan Ali to attend the next hearing.

The model has been sent on judicial remand for at least thirteen times since she was first detained at Rawalpindi International Airport.
