Five injured as PTI, PML-N workers clash in Sialkot

SIALKOT – A scuffle broke out between the supporters of two mainstream political parties of the country, Monday night in Hajipura area of Sialkot at one of the party’s election camp, leaving five of the jubilant workers injured.

According to police, a charged group of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) loyalists attacked the supporters of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on the final day of electioneering following which the wounded persons were rushed to a nearby hospital.

The brawl broke out after the loyalists of the two parties exchanged heated slogans amid a rally of the Imran Khan’s party.

During the tussle, multiple equipments, as well as the windows of the PML-M’s offices were smashed down by the furious workers before the police sprung into action to calm down the situation.

The PML-N subsequently filed a petition in the Hajipura police station, based on which further proceedings have been initiated.

The election campaigns came to an end Monday night and the elections are scheduled for July 25th.
