ISLAMABAD – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar lambasted on Tuesday, those who are criticising the collection of money for dams fund.
The top Judge called out the factions who are saying that the judiciary was begging money for the construction of Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dam, remarking that they should be ashamed of their mindset.
Justice Nisar was hearing a case regarding Kidney Liver transplant case when he expressed his views about the dams fund and expressed anger at those who have been criticising the method opted to construct the dams.

Dam construction and fund collection is based on national interests only, the CJP observed.
The apex court judge further said, “We started this good cause with the national spirit but some narrow-minded people are accusing us of begging.”

Justice Nisar had established a dam fund in July this year and aimed to raise money for the construction of Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dam.
Prime Minister Imran Khan also urged the nation and overseas Pakistanis to donate money for the construction of dams.
A day earlier, the Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa handed over a cheque worth Rs 1 billion to the top judge, as a contribution by Pakistan’s military for the dams.
