Pakistani woman hits 1m jackpot in Dubai

DUBAI – A lucky Pakistani woman has won the $1 million (Dh3.6 million) jackpot in the Dubai Duty-Free Millennium Millionaire draw.

Fehmida Tanveer, a housewife from Pakistan, bought 18 Dubai Duty-Free Millennium Millionaire tickets worth Dh40,000 online from a retailer at Dubai international airport terminal.

Her ticket number, 0373, earned her Rs110 million as the organisers announced the winners at Concourse D in Terminal 1 of the Airport.

Flanked by her husband, Tanveer told Khaleej Times that she would donate 15 per cent of the winnings to needy people back in their home country, while 50 per cent will be used for buying property in Dubai.

Fehmida is the fifth Pakistani to win the Dubai Duty-Free Millennium Millionaire draw since the start of this year.

Founded in 1983, Dubai Duty-Free has grown into one of the biggest travel retail operator in the world.
