ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has asked party leaders Pervez Khattak and Asad Qaiser to vacate their provincial assembly seats, to strengthen its position at the federal level.
The decision was made by a meeting of the senior party leadership, presided over by PTI chief Imran Khan on Saturday. The participants also mulled over nominations for deputy speaker National Assembly and the same in the provinces.
Pervaiz Khattak, the former Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, will reportedly be appointed as an interior ministry in the upcoming PTI government steered by Imran Khan.
Earlier it was being reported that Khattak was adamant on reappointment as Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, however, Imran Khan finally persuaded him to assist him at the centre.
The party eventually nominated former sports minister Mehmood Khan for the top slot.
Moreover, Asad Qaiser was announced as the nominee for Speaker national Assembly by the party; he had earlier served as the speaker of the KPK Assembly.
