BENGHAZI – At least 22 people have died in a suicide bomb blast targeting soldiers in the eastern city of Benghazi when an explosion hit the al-Guwarsha area, west of the urban center.
The region has been the focus of fighting between Islamist militias and troops loyal to Libya’s eastern government, the BBC reported.
News agencies said an Islamist group, the Shura Council of Benghazi Revolutionaries, said it was behind the blast.
The rebel eastern government was organised in 2014 in competition with the elected parliament.
