Public holiday announced on 12 Rabiul Awwal in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – The federal government has announced a public holiday across the country on account of Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH), which is marked on 12 Rabiul Awwal.

The government has listed 12 Rabiul Awwal as public holiday in it calendar for the year 2024. According to the official circular, the Eid Miladun Nabi would be observed on September 16, 2024.

However, a final decision will be taken after the sighting of moon for the new Islamic month. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee would meet on Wednesday (September 4).

If the moon is sighted on Sept 4, the first of Rabiul Awwal will fall on Sept 5 while 12 Rabiul Awwal will be marked on Sept 16.

The Eid Miladun Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), is marked on 12 Rabi ul Awal every year.

Streets across the country are turned festive every year to mark the day religious zeal and fervor.

Several processions are also taken out in major cities of the country, where participants wave flags and chant slogans to show their devotion to Prophet Muhammad PBUH.
