ISLAMABAD – The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is mulling over provision of smartphones to women beneficiaries to enhance the financial and digital inclusion of the females.
The proposal was discussed in a meeting between BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid and a delegation from JazzCash led by Ibrar Khan, Vice President Corporate Affairs, and Ali Naseer, Chief Strategic Officer.
Senator Rubina Khalid emphasised the directive from both the president and prime minister of Pakistan to ensure that BISP beneficiaries receive their payments with complete transparency and respect.
She highlighted that digital empowerment through smartphones is vital in bridging the communication gap between BISP and its beneficiaries, enabling them to be fully aware of their rights and reducing the risk of fraud.
The chairperson also stressed BISP’s commitment to improving the lives of its beneficiaries by offering market-driven skill training that aligns with employment opportunities.
During the meeting, the JazzCash team presented potential initiatives for collaboration. Senator Rubina Khalid urged the team to develop a detailed implementation plan for the digital empowerment of BISP beneficiaries.
