A spokesman for San Francisco General Hospital said that one of the victims, a 36-year-old man, was in critical condition. He continued that another 32-year-old woman was in serious condition but the 27-year-old woman was in fair condition.
Regarding how the attack was carried out, the police said Aghdam approached an outdoor patio and dining courtyard on the campus around lunchtime and began to fire before entering the building.
The online profile of the 39-year-old suspect shows she was a vegan activist who administered a website NasimeSabz.com, where she posted about Persian culture and veganism, as well as long passages critical of YouTube.
US media was more specific about Aghdam and claimed she was angry that YouTube was filtering her videos and reducing the money she could make.
“There is no equal growth opportunity on YouTube or any other video-sharing site, your channel will grow if they want to,” stated the deceased in one of her posts.
Who Was Nasim Aghdam
Nasim Aghdam lived in San Diego in southern California and created content for her Youtube channel, which was deleted after the shooting.
Aghdam’s father, Ismail, told local US media her daughter was angry because YouTube had stopped paying her for videos.
“She had been reported missing on Monday after not answering calls for two days,” detailed her father.
Interestingly, police found her sleeping in her car in Mountain View, 25km south of the YouTube offices and reported this to her family, without detaining her.
According to local media, her father had even alarmed police she might go to YouTube as she “hated the company”.
