PTI raises concerns about parliamentary committee s probe into Ayesha Gulalai s allegations

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf raised its concerns about the impartiality of the parliamentary committee proposed by premier Khaqan Abbasi to look into the allegations hurled by Ayesha Gulalai against Imran Khan.

Senior PTI leader Shafqat Mehmood while talking to newsmen on Friday expressed that PTI was not against any sort of investigations but the committee investigating Ayesha Gulalai’s allegations against Imran Khan could not be unbiased.

“The parliamentary committee would be having members from PTI’s rivals,” he said and reiterated that PML-N was behind Ayesha Gulalai.

He maintained that PTI was aware of the malicious campaign against its leader after the announcement of Panama case verdict by the Supreme Court, that led to the disqualification of premier Nawaz Sharif.

Apart from Shafqat Mehmood, PTI’s nominee for National Assembly constituency Yasim Rashid also addressed the press and alleged that as many as 30 thousand votes have been added to the voters’ list of NA-120 Lahore.

“PML-N is experienced in rigging,” she alleged and added that manipulation in voters’ list was part of the pre-poll rigging.

Rashid expressed his dismay over the premier’s plan to head to Lahore via road and expressed that the whole system would be hijacked to give protocol to a ‘corrupt’ man.

‘The media cell of Maryam Nawaz has arrived in Lahore from Islamabad’ she observed.

Yasmin, who contested elections from the same constituency against Nawaz Sharif in 2013 contended that no development project should be launched after the announcement of electoral schedule.

Shafqat Mehmood also slammed the ruling party for its choice regarding the cabinet members.

‘Members of Maryam Nawaz’s media cell have been obliged’ he said referring to the newly sworn in cabinet under Khaqan Abbasi’s chair.

It bears mentioning that premier Khaqan Abbasi had called for a parliamentary committee’s probe into the allegations hurled by Ayesha Gulalai against Imran Khan.

Speaking on the floor of the house on Friday, Abbasi expressed that the issue relates to two lawmakers and to uphold the sanctity of the house, it needed to be resolved.

He proposed the formation of a committee which would probe the matter without publicising anything giving a fair chance to both the accuser and Imran Khan before presenting its report to the house.
