Islamabad police spring into action after top cop’s pistol, documents stolen

ISLAMABAD – Police in Pakistan’s capital say they are investigating a theft case relating to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jan Muhammad.

A pistol, issued in the name of Jan’s gunman, and sensitive documents were stolen from the IGP’s official residence in Islamabad’s F-7 sector.

The spokesperson for the capital police, AIG Operations Abdul Qadir Qamar said they are collecting information on the “highly sensitive matter” and would release an official statement later on Tuesday.

Soon after an inquiry was launched earlier today, the top cop’s staff were also questioned by the police.

Jan Muhammad, a former army lieutenant and BS-20 officer of Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), was transferred and posted as Inspector General, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police in June this year. He was previously serving in National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).
