Nawaz Sharif will come to Lahore via GT Road on Wednesday

ISLAMABAD – Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who had been disqualified by the Supreme Court, will come to Lahore in form of convoy from Islamabad via GT Road on Wednesday (August 9), local media reported.

As per the details, the prime minister held a consultative meeting with Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) leaders regarding going to Lahore.

Sources said that the PML-N has reached this decision due to the continuous demands of the supporters and party stalwarts.

In order to welcome the former prime minister, welcome camps will be set up on the route where he will address the public.

PML-N leader Asif Kirmani said that the convoy of Nawaz Sharif will depart at 9am on August 9 for Lahore.

Earlier, Nawaz Sharif was scheduled to come to Lahore on Sunday, but the decision was changed after the consultation due to security reasons.

On Saturday, Nawaz Sharif, who basked in the warmth of reception extended by his supporters as he arrived in the capital from his Shangla Gali residence in Murree headed to Punjab House in Islamabad.

He held meeting with his party members, representatives of CPNE and television anchors at Punjab House Islamabad, where he slammed former president Pervez Musharraf for his statement that dictatorship was better than the civilian rule.

Regarding his plan to travel to Punjab’s provincial capital in the form of a convey, Sharif replied that he was eager to travel via road, however, the security officials asked him to skip the plan.

‘I would go to Lahore via G.T road in coming days if I don’t make it today or tomorrow’ he assured.

It is notable that Nawaz Sharif had been disqualified by the Supreme Court for concealing his job with Capital FZE while announcing the decision of high-profile Panama Papers case.
