HYDERABAD – In an unusual move, a police officer has approached a court with a complaint against city municipal corporation over garbage heaps and encroachments within limits of his police station in Hyderabad.
Station House Officer Munir Abasi has filed the complaint against Hyderabad Municipal Corporation stating that rubbish is scattered all over the roads in the jurisdiction of the Market police station causing unbearable stench.
He further said that police parties were unable to patrol the area properly due to encroachments by vendors, goods transporters and others. The complainant also submitted several photographs of the area showing garbage and encroachments on the roads.
He informed the court that district administration had warned the goods transport companies to shift from the populated area of Heerabad, Tando Wali Muhammad and Market repeatedly, but the companies were not acting on the directives.
In an unheard of move, a police officer has filed a complaint in court against the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC) over garbage heaps and encroachments within his jurisdiction.
On the complaint of the SHO, the court on Thursday served notices to the officials concerned, including municipal commissioner and taluka municipal officer and the HMC anti-encroachment assistant director for January 8, reported Express Tribune.
Talking to the media outlet, the police officer said that he was planning to move the court as a citizen but his lawyer advised him to file the complaint under Section 133 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPc).
The law, which is not being used by police officer from a long time, empowers the officers to move the court for such matters.
