KARACHI – In a veiled reference to the party, Sindh Rangers on Tuesday blamed the leadership of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for instigating its followers to undertake criminal activities.
A spokesman of the paramilitary force said that violence in Pakistan was being promoted by the leadership of a certain political party that was based in a foreign country
He also claimed that this leadership was also encouraging the youth, particularly students, to take up arms against the institutions of the country.
The spokesman said threats were being issued to the members of business community, artists, and other prominent personalities by supporters of the unnamed political party.
However, the Sindh Rangers assures protection to all those under threat, the spokesman said.
The MQM’s central leadership, including party chief Altaf Hussain, has been residing in London for the last 20 years. The party has often been linked with alleged criminal activities.
