80% of Islamabad families registered with BISP, shows latest data

ISLAMABAD – Eighty persent of total families living in the federal capital are registered with the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), while 20% are in the list of deserving families maintained by NADRA, it was revealed on Thursday.

The statistics related to the Prime Minister’s free flour scheme have opened a new Pandora box by making startling revelations.

Around 411,000 families were registered in recent census conducted by the federal government. However, the data showed that 588,000 families received free flour bags under a scheme launched by the prime minister.

The Ministry of Industries claimed that under the PPM’s free flour scheme last year, flour bags worth Rs1.36 billion were distributed among deserving families in Islamabad.

The data showed that 330,000 families registered with BISP in Islamabad were also given free flour under the scheme. It added that 258,000 deserving families verified by NADRA also received free flour.
