Trump fumes as US court shoots down appeal for reinstating travel ban
WASHINGTON - An American federal appeals court on Sunday turned down the justice department's request for an immediate reinstatement of President Donald Trump's ban on citizens from seven Muslim countries and all refugees.

The justice department filed an appeal on Saturday to reinstate Trump's executive order barring citizens from seven Muslim countries and temporarily banning refugees.

Acting solicitor general Noel Francisco, representing the administration, told the court that the president alone has the power to decide who can enter the US.

The appeal was in response to federal judge James Robart's Friday order that lifted the travel ban, warning the decision posed an immediate harm to the public.

James Robart's Friday's ruling

The power to expel or exclude aliens is a fundamental sovereign attribute, delegated by Congress to the executive branch of government and largely immune from judicial control," according to government's filing.

Trump himself mocked Robart, who was appointed by President George W Bush, calling him a "so-called judge" whose "ridiculous" ruling "will be overturned".

However, Trump's intention to overturn the decision was shot down by the judge.

'Appellants' request for an immediate administrative stay pending full consideration of the emergency motion for a stay pending appeal is denied,' the late-night appeals court order stated.

In a series of tweets after the Sunday's ruling came out, Trump blamed the judge for putting US in a dangerous situation.

Donald expressed that the courts were making his job very difficult.

The 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco asked challengers of the ban to respond by early Monday 3 pm (23:00 GMT) , and for the justice department to file a counter-response by the evening.
The ruling means travellers from seven predominantly Muslim nations Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen as well as vetted refugees from all nations could now enter US.
