ISLAMABAD - Justice Saqib Nisar is to replace CJP Anwar Zaheer Jamali as the next chief justice of Pakistan on Dec 31, after President Mamnoon Hussain announced his appointment on Wednesday.
Following the president's approval, the Law ministry has also issued a notification in this regard.
CJP Jamali is set to retire by the end of this year. He was appointed in September 2015.
Justice Mian Saqib Nisar was born on January 18, 1954 in Lahore, and obtained an undergraduate degree in law from University of Punjab.
He practices in civil, commercial, tax and constitutional law and currently serves as a Judge in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Justice Saqib Nisar has also served as acting CJP in the absence of Justice Jamali.
Pakistani currency remains marginally same against US Dollar and other currencies on April 20, 2024. US dollar was being quoted at 277.5 for buying and 280.5 for selling.
Euro comes down to 293 for buying and 296 for selling while British Pound stands at 342.25 for buying, and 345.65 for selling.
UAE Dirham AED was at 75.25 and Saudi Riyal's new rates was at 73.30.
