Saudi father punished his son for being sexually abused by ironing his private parts

Not everyone is fit for parenthood

A victim of sexual abuse opened up to his father about his father about being sexually abused by teenagers, and as a result the father punished the child for being sexually abused (wait , WHAT?). This case of double abuse came forward when the father consulted a psychologist regarding this whole incident.

Doctor Hussain Al Shamarani explained how he came across this horrifying incident while he was practicing at a Saudi hospital. Shamarani explained how he is coming forward with this story to spread awareness and education. He took over twitter,

“The consequences of both punishing the victim or remaining silent about an assault are detrimental”

Well obviously when the man consulted Shamarani it was too late he explained how it was emotionally and mentally too late for the victim as the damage has already been done .

“The consequences of both punishing the victim or remaining silent about an assault are detrimental to children who suffer from an incident of sexual abuse. Victims of such assaults need medical assistance to get through it and must be seen by doctors who’ll assess their cases and provide them with the care and support they need,” he added.

The case made people furious:

“Ignorance is catastrophic. This father knows he won’t be punished for his actions. This is why similar incidents will always recur.”

This is how the society is working sadly:

“This is how their brains are programmed, to blame the victim for being harassed”

Some people got authorities attention:

“We need hotlines that professionally deal with similar cases, we need to combat this outdated rhetoric that shames victims. I call on authorities to launch investigations into such cases and start vigilantly working on solving them. Admitting that there’s a problem is the first step towards solving it.”

Parents should be very careful with the actions they take as their actions will stay with their children forever and it will impact their future. It is important for every parent to hold a conversation with their children about sexual abuse and how they should be the first ones to know if such incidents take place so the right treatment and safety is provided to the victim. If we turn backs on our own children then they don’t have a lot left to rely on.
