12 policemen suspended for using social media during duty hours

KARACHI – The Karachi police have suspended 12 more officials for using social media on mobile phones during the duty hours.

The suspended officials include three women and nine men, taking the total number to 18 as six were also suspended the previous days.

Inspector General of Sindh Police, Ghulam Nabi Memon, has issued directives to the Additional IG Karachi, zonal DIGs, and SSPs of Karachi in this regard.

IG Sindh instructed that action should be taken against videos featuring inappropriate, suggestive voiceovers, playback songs, or disrespectful content. He said that departmental and legal actions against “police TikTokers”.

He emphasized that those who create videos that tarnish the reputation of the police have no place in the department. The police department is a disciplined force, and respect for the police uniform is mandatory for everyone.

IG Sindh said both male and female police employees are prohibited from uploading videos on TikTok. Disciplinary actions must be ensured against police employees who share videos on TikTok in violation of the directives.
