WASHINGTON -US President Donald Trump is removing the director of the U.S. Secret Service, the White House said on Monday.
The outgoing Randolph Alles heads the agency which provides protection for president and other top U.S. officials; the official reports to the Homeland Security secretary.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said James Murray, a career Secret Service agent, will replace Alles in May.
The fresh departure comes on the heels of the ouster of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen who resigned on Sunday after meeting with President Trump.
“I have determined that it is the right time for me to step aside,” Ms. Nielsen stated in a resignation letter.

“I hope that the next secretary will have the support of Congress and the courts in fixing the laws which have impeded our ability to fully secure America’s borders and which have contributed to discord in our nation’s discourse,” she added.
Trump said Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin McAleenan will replace her temporarily; Ms Nielsen was responsible for the proposed border wall with Mexico and the separation of migrant families which has been the contentious issue ever since Trump won the elections in 2016.
The removal of Secret Service Chief marks the latest in a long line of firings and resignations of top officials in the Trump administration.
The list includes the secretaries of state, defense, homeland security, interior, veterans affairs and health and human services, the attorney general and numerous senior White House aides who either decided to say good-bye to Trump or the Republican showed them the door in a bid to execute his policies.
