Chef and longtime television personality Anthony Bourdain has died at age 61

Award winning chef, writer and television personality Anthony Bourdain has died in an apparent suicide at the age of 61. He was found dead on Friday morning in his room at a luxury hotel. He was found in a small village of Kaysersberg in the Alsace region of northeast France.

He apparently hanged himself according to Christian de Rocquigny du Fayel the prosecutor of Colmar in Alsace region. However the reason is under investigation. He was a great storyteller as he collaborated food and travel to tel stories from around the world.  He won several Emmy awards and a Peabody award in 2013 according to CNN.

He leaves behind his 11 year old daughter Ariane Bourdain. CNN confirmed the news of his death in an heartfelt statement,

“It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague Anthony Bourdain,His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceases to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time.”
