Govt committed to women empowerment: Marvi

ISLAMABAD (APP) – Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Marvi Memon Sunday said that steps were being taken to ensure women empowerment under the vision of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

In an interview to Radio Pakistan on International Women’s Day, she said the mission of BISP is to uphold self-respect and dignity of women.

She said some 4.8 million women were beneficiaries and receiving financial assistance under the programme. Women were playing pivotal role in every field of life for the progress, betterment and development of the country, he added.

Memon said it is imperative for women to know their rights and also make efforts for its protection.

She said there is a need to create an enabling environment for women in which they feel comfortable to play their role.
