QUETTA – Pakistani security forces are intensifying their hunt for militants across Balochistan, striking terrorist hideouts in a series of intelligence-led operations that have left 15 militants dead in the mountainous region.
The coordinated operations targeted suspected Khawarij positions in Mastung, Bolan, Washuk and Awaran, while separate intelligence-led actions were also carried out in Sibi, Khuzdar, Harnai and Nushki, according to the sources. A substantial cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the militants killed during the operations, the sources said.
The latest offensive reportedly dealt major blow to militant networks operating across the mineral rich region with support of foreign handlers, with security officials maintaining that intelligence-driven operations will continue as part of efforts to dismantle terrorist infrastructure.
The fresh action comes on heels of earlier operations in Kambela and Asimabad areas, where three militants belonging to Fitna-ul-Hindustan were killed. Security forces also cleared an area covering 68 square kilometres during those operations.
The counterterrorism campaign also expanded beyond Balochistan, with security forces stepping up intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In a recent operation in Hangu District, seven terrorists were killed, while Captain Hamza Akram was martyred during the engagement.
Civil, military leaders praised security forces after the latest operations in Balochistan, commending their professional capabilities and success in eliminating 15 Khawarij militants. The operations frustrated the plans of Fitna-ul-Hindustan and Fitna-ul-Khawarij, while paying tribute to security personnel engaged in the fight against terrorism.
Officials said the brave sons of security forces fighting against terrorism are the pride of the nation, and that it will complete elimination of terrorist elements from Balochistan.
