Faisal Vawda pins blame on previous regimes for faltering economy

ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Water Resources, Faisal Vawda has blamed the previous governments for damaging the national economy, saying that the predecessors looted the national wealth.

The entire country was facing a financial crunch due to the weak policies of previous governments, he said while talking to a private news channel on Tuesday.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government wanted to make the country ‘a welfare state’ and for that purpose, it was taking concerted measures in different fields, he affirmed.

To a question about inflation, he said the government had to take difficult steps, but at the end, the masses would enjoy the benefits of ensuing progress and prosperity.

The lawmaker said the prime minister was going to launch a housing scheme for providing shelter to the people belonging to the low-income group.

About increasing utility bills, he said the poor consumers would not face any problem in that regard.

The sitting PTI government is facing flak owing to its decision to reach out to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) despite tall claims that the economy could be put on track without taking any loans.

Finance Minister, Asad Umar has left for Indonesia to engage in conversation with the IMF team; after the decision to seek IMF’s help the rupee devalued against the US dollar sharply.
