LAHORE – A concrete pedestrian overpass on Canal Road connecting Punjab University New Campus academic blocks with hostels collapsed after being hit by a trailer carrying heavy machinery on Sunday night.
The incident caused a traffic mess on the road from Thokar Niaz Beg, a major entry point of Lahore, to Punjab University as the concrete beams and slabs blocked the passage. Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident.
Meanwhile, Lahore Police filed a first information report (FIR) of the incident and arrested the driver of the dumper truck.
Earlier in 2015, a 16-feet high bridge opposite Hailey College of the new campus collapsed after a trailer hit it while transporting heavy machinery.
