WASHINGTON – The newly elected president of United States Donald Trump called on President Barack Obama at the White House after the latter invited president-elect here on Thursday.
The historic meeting was convened just three days after Barack Obama termed Trump unfit to control the codes needed to launch nuclear weapons.
The 90-minute private meeting is the first stage of a 72-day transition process between Tuesday’s election victory and Trump’s inauguration on 20 January.
Barack Obama who was otherwise having different views about Trump pledged his support to the successor after the pleasant meeting.
‘I want to emphasize to you, Mr. President-elect, that we now are going to do everything we can to help you succeed because if you succeed, then the country succeeds’ Obama said.
‘My No. 1 priority in the next two months is to try to facilitate a transition that ensures our President-elect is successful’ he added.
On the other hand, the real estate tycoon also expressed his positivity about Barack Obama.
“Mr. President, it was a great honor being with you and I look forward to being with you many, many more times,” Trump said.
Surprisingly, Donald Trump termed Obama ‘very good man’ contrary to his earlier views of Obama being the worst president ever.
