Pakistan beat Japan to register first win in Hockey’s Asian Champions Trophy

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan achieved their first victory by defeating Japan in the Asian Champions Trophy Hockey Tournament, which is being played in Chinese city of Hollen Beir.

Pakistan beat Japan 2-1 to secure their first win of the tournament. Nadeem Ahmed scored a goal in the first quarter to give Pakistan the lead, but Japan equalized in the second quarter.

In the 10th minute of the second quarter, Sufyan Khan scored to regain the lead for Pakistan, and this advantage was maintained until the end of the match.

Pakistan’s previous two matches against South Korea and Malaysia ended in draw.

India is the defending champion of the tournament as they last year defeated Malaysia 4-3 in the final to grab the title for the fourth time.

In addition to Pakistan, teams from India, Korea, Malaysia, Japan and China are participating in the Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament, which will be played from September 8 to September 17.
