Maleeha Lodhi among world s five successful women diplomats : Russian website

NEW YORK- Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Maleedha Lodhi has been placed amongst world’s ‘five successful women diplomats’ by a popular Russian news website.

“Gazeta.ru”, which has a million visitors per day, honored women diplomats on the day of diplomats by listing top five women in the profession. According to the website, these women followed in the footsteps of the defunct Soviet Union’s “highly accomplished” first Russian woman diplomat, Alexandra Kollontai, and succeeded in the profession.

The website described Lodhi as “One of the most famous women politicians in the Muslim” and highlighted her diplomatic career as Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States, Great Britain and as first women to be appointed as permanent representative and chief delegate to the United Nations, her journalistic career as a correspondent, an Editor-in-Chief, and being one of the pioneer members to launch The News International, as well as her career as an academic.

Other prominent women who made it to the top five, according to Gazeta.ru, are:

Eleonora Mitrofanova: Mitrofanova is a Russian diplomat and she has also served as Deputy Director General of Paris-based UNESCO.

It is worthy to mention that this isn’t the first time Ms Lodhi’s accomplishments have been noticed by international media. In 1994, Pakistan’s Ambassador to United Nations was selected by Time magazine as one of a hundred people in the world who would help to shape the 21st century,- she was the only one chosen from Pakistan.
