Pakistan will support Arabs at any cost: PM Sharif

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Pledging unequivocal support to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today (Monday) reaffirmed that Pakistan will stand shoulder to shoulder with KSA in case of any threat to its territorial integrity.

“We will not leave our friends alone in the hour of trial,” the prime minister declared in a media briefing after holding a meeting with civil and army leadership on Monday.

Condemning the Houthi rebels who toppled the government of Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, PM Nawaz recalled urging the Iranian Foreign Minister, who visited the country a few days ago, to help bring the Yemeni rebels on the negotiating table.

Referring to the recent statement of UAE’s minister Dr Garagash who lambasted Pakistan for “taking an ambiguous stance”, Nawaz Sharif said the Gulf allies misunderstood the Parliament’s resolution.

The resolution had said Pakistan and other Islamic countries should work together for peaceful resolution of issue while promoting unity among Muslims.

“Pakistan will step up its diplomatic efforts in coming days to resolve this crisis,” PM Nawaz maintained.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy historic relations and both the countries have stood by each others in the hour of trial.
