LAHORE – Samina Peerzada hosts one of its kind digital talk show and has invited a number of celebrity guests.
However, Samina has been a target of trolls for the questions she asks her guests. She is quite often criticised for asking cliched questions.
However here she is, still going strong with the show.
In her latest episode with Affan Waheed, Samina had a few problematic things to say about the mental health disorder, depression.
He said his traumatic experience with depression has helped him become more compassionate and empathetic. “Everything in life is very temporary; it passes before you know it. We should not dwell on the past or put a full stop, just keep living,” he said.
Samina however took a different turn regarding the disorder. She said that depression can be easily handled here as you have friends and family so you do not need a therapist but people abroad are alone so they need one.
Urmmmm, that statement is problematic to the core.
Having friends does not mean you do not need therapy. You still need it to feel better on a professional level. Friends and family matter the most, no doubt. But having a therapist when youre not feeling good is a must. They are trained to listen to you. While friends and family do care for you, but they are not trained in the particular department.
