Roshni Association organises Paint for Roshni exhibition to showcase talent of special persons

LAHORE – Roshni Association, an NGO for the welfare of special persons organized “Paint for Roshni” Art Exhibition in collaboration with Shakir Ali Museum & Pakistan National Council of Arts on Thursday.

The exhibition is a continuation of an art competition “Paint for Roshni 2018”, organized on 7th February 2018 at Roshni Association for both normal and special students from different institutions of Lahore.

The basic aims of the competition and exhibition are to promote the artistic talent of the special persons in Pakistan and to develop an understanding amongst the youth of Pakistan about the needs of such persons in our country.

In this competition, the participants were divided into 6 different categories from A to F according to their needs and age groups.

A total of 180 special persons and normal children participated in the competition and drew beautiful paintings on the theme of “Hope for the Dawn & Blessings of My country”.

Special persons and normal children from Roshni Association, Rising Sun Institute, Fountain House, Assisted Living, Falah Foundation, Turning, Point, Lahore, Pakistan Society for The Rehabilitation of the Disabled (PSRD), Lahore, Amin Maktab, Living Institute of Slow Learner, Punjab University, Lahore School of Learning and Green Earth Roshni School participated in the competition.

Ms Amna I. Pataudi, Director of Shakir Ali Museum – Pakistan National Council of the Arts, judged the competitors and selected the best paintings from each category.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Mrs Kishwar Rashed known as Mani Rashed and Dr Ajaz Anwar, a renowned artist. He is also former teacher at National College of Arts and holds Pride of Performance award.

The paintings of the winners in each category and few others made by special persons of Roshni Association were displayed in the exhibition.

All paintings will be available FOR SALE as a donation for Roshni Association.

Addressing the prize distribution ceremony, Dr Ajaz Anwar remarked that the special people were not disabled as God had granted them many other abilities.

He appreciated the beautiful work done by these special persons in the form of their paintings.

Moreover, Director, PNCA, Ms Amna I. Pataudi, General Secretary, Roshni Association, Mr Muhammad Zahid Durrani, Senior Vice President Mrs Nasira Mehmood,  Joint Secretary Mr Tariq Habib Mirza also participated in the prize distribution ceremony and lavished praise on the beautiful artwork displayed.

The honorable Chief Guest, Mrs Manai Rashed, Dr Ajaz Anwar award the shields along with prizes and certificates to the winners of the “Roshni Art Competition”.
