Panthers Defeat Lions By 84 Runs In Champions One Day Cup

FAISALABAD – The Panthers defeated the Lions by 84 runs in the fifth match of the Champions One-Day Cup at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad.

Chasing a target of 284 runs, Shaheen Shah Afridi’s team was dismissed for 199, with most batters falling for under 20 runs. Imamul Haq was the top scorer for the Lions with 60 runs, followed by Muhammad Irfan Khan who contributed 35 runs.

Shadab Khan and Usama Mir each claimed three wickets, Mohammad Hasnain took two, and Amad Butt secured one.

Earlier, the Panthers won the toss and chose to bat. Opening batsmen Saim Ayub and Azan Awais started the innings, but Azan Awais struggled and was dismissed for just one run, caught by Irfan Khan off Sirajuddin’s bowling.

Umar Siddiq also failed to score and was dismissed without a run, caught by Sajjad Ali off captain Shaheen Shah Afridi’s delivery.

Following these early wickets, openers Syed Ayub and Usman Khan made modest contributions, scoring 10 and 11 runs respectively, with their dismissals credited to Aamer Yamin and Sirajuddin.

After losing four wickets, Mubasir Khan and Haider Ali anchored the innings, both scoring half-centuries. Mubasir Khan made 90 runs before being caught by Sirajuddin off Aamer Yamin’s delivery. Haider Ali added 84 runs, while Shadab Khan contributed 37 off 29 balls.

In the bowling department, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Ahmed Daniyal each took three wickets, while Sirajuddin and Amir Yamin claimed two each.
