WASHINGTON – The former director of Federal Bureau of Investigation, James Comey is dropping bombshells on US President Donald Trump regarding his handling of state affairs, with the latest memo revealing more about president’s obsession with the issue of Russian meddling.
According to leaked memorandums of Comey, the US president complained him in early 2017 that the Russia meddling investigation was a cloud over his young administration.
Leaked on Thursday, the memos could dent the reputation of tycoon-turned-president as they add more weight to the perception that the Russia factor was somewhat decisive in Trump’s surprise victory.
Trump “said he was trying to run the country and the cloud of this Russia business was making that difficult”, Comey wrote in a memo about a conversation they had on March 30, 2017.
Eleven days later, Trump again pressed Comey about the issue. This time the president told Comey that “he is trying to do work for the country, visit with foreign leaders, and any cloud, even a little cloud, gets in the way of that”, Comey wrote in a reference to “the Russia thing”.

Though the Justice Department had released them to Congress, a copy of the memos available with the media shows that the lawyer was uncomfortable with the pressure, though at the time he did not allege the president had broken any laws.
The president had the last conversation with Comey on May 9 and the same day, Trump fired FBI chief.
In an interview two days later, Trump opined that he decided to sack Comey in part out of unhappiness over the Russia probe adding that ‘it should’ve been over with a long time ago.’
“In fact, when I decided to just do it, I said to myself, you know, this thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story, an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election.”
Comey wrote that the president repeatedly raised the still-unconfirmed story about the Russians having a video of him with prostitutes in a Moscow hotel.
“The president said ‘this hookers thing’ is nonsense,” Comey wrote, however, Trump also said “that Putin had told him, ‘We have some of the most beautiful hookers in the world’,” Comey noted.
On the other hand, Trump took to Twitter on Friday and boasted that there was no collusion or obstruction in the probe.

James Comey’s Firing
President Donald Trump had sacked the director of the FBI over his handling of the inquiry into Hillary Clinton’s emails, the administration had said in a statement.

The unexpected dismissal shocked US power corridors but Donald Trump while justifying his action said Comey was removed from office over his handling of an election-year email scandal involving the then-Democratic presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton.
Republican’s traditional foes, Democrats pitched another idea confronting Trump and said he was fired because the FBI was investigating alleged links between the Trump campaign and Russia.
